Kevin and Melissa Derksen (Emery)
Wycliffe Bible Translators
Kevin and Melissa are both from Calgary. They are currently developing a financial and prayer support team to serve with Wycliffe’s NextGen Ministries. The purpose of NextGen is to promote Wycliffe’s work amongst the young adults of this generation, providing opportunities for ministry involvement and information on the needs which exist and how to be a part of the global Bible translation effort. NextGen accomplishes these goals by representing Wycliffe at missions conferences, meeting one-on-one with students, and running events like Cafe Wycliffe and Race to 2025 to inform people of what God is doing and how to take part. Kevin and Melissa are currently at about 50% of their needed financial support.

Compassion International
Mercy was born on March 3, 2003 and lives in Kenya. Her father is sometimes employed as a farmer and her mother maintains the home. Mercy is responsible for helping in the kitchen and cleaning. She has three siblings. As part of Compassion’s ministry in her hillside village of Moyoi, Mercy participates in church activities. She is also in primary school. Singing and running are her favourite activities.
Common health problems in Mercy’s region include malaria and typhoid. Most adults in Moyoi are unemployed, but some work as day labourers and earn the equivalent of $20/month. Mercy’s community needs improved sanitation, schools, water and recreation facilities. Our sponsorship of Mercy also allows the staff of Church of God Lolgorian Child Development Center to provide her with Bible teaching, games, health screening, health education, and field trips, as well as literacy classes and parenting education for her parents.
Gospel for Asia Missionary
Vrinder grew up in a nominal Christian family in India. They lived according to the standards of the world without giving God priority. Vrinder never experienced a peaceful home and surrounded himself with friends of negative influence in order to find happiness. During a time when fear and anxiety was ruling over him, Vrinder met a pastor who listened to his struggles and shared the Good News of Jesus with him. Vrinder received Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord of his life.
Vrinder has sensed God’s call on his life to serve as a missionary and attended a Gospel for Asia Bible School. Vrinder is currently serving in the North Punjab region of India amongst a Sikh majority (60%). Another 37% of the population are Hindu, with only 1% being Christians. Vrinder witnesses to people personally, visits homes, holds prayer meetings, distributes Gospel tracts and is involved in church-planting work. Pray for Vrinder as the Sikh majority are very resistant to the Good News of Jesus and there is some persecution of Christians from the large Hindu minority there.
